The Eye Care Institute Named as Eye Doctors To The 2008 Ryder Cup

The 2008 Ryder Cup, to be held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville from September 16 - 21, 2008, has named The Eye Care Institute as its official eye doctors. This announcement came at the request of Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's HealthCare, www.jhsmh.org, which is serving as the healthcare partner of the 2008 Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup, first played in 1927, matches the best golfers in the United States and Europe against each other for team golf competition. The current competition uses Match Play, to showcase the talents of these supreme golfers of two continents. More information about the Ryder Cup traditions, competition, and history can be found at www.rydercup.com

The Ryder Cup is played every two years and typically rotates between golf courses in Great Britain and the United States. 2008 will mark the first time that a golf course in Kentucky has hosted the event. Tens of thousands of visitors from around the world are expected to attend.

Physicians from The Eye Care Institute will be on call, and at Valhalla during the Ryder Cup competition in the event eye care services are needed by any participants, golf officials or spectators.

John Meyer, MD, President of The Eye Care Institute, stated "we are happy to offer our eye care services to anyone in need, especially at fun, world class events, such as the Ryder Cup."
