The Real Dr. Brennan Greene
Watching Dr. Brennan Greene’s attention to his patients’ vision concerns, you may not guess that he considered another calling. Knowing that he wanted a career that served people, he considered becoming a priest. “But my scientific calling was stronger,” he said.
As he progressed through the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he weighed his specialty options. He enjoyed surgery but felt he would miss patient interactions. Internal medicine offered patient interaction but he thought he would miss surgery. He decided that ophthalmology had a nice balance of patient care and surgery. “Plus, the eye is really cool,” he said.
When Dr. Greene isn’t seeing patients, he finds other cool pursuits. Lying on the beach is O.K., he said, but after a day or two he gets bored. Instead, he prefers travel. “I enjoy visiting places where I can see things I can’t see at home,” he said. He especially enjoys visiting Ireland, the land of his ancestors. Back home, he enjoys spending time with his large extended family and watching his favorite team, the Cards. |
